Airlines Who Operate T7 With 2-2-2 In C-class?

Mon Sep 26, 2005 2:05 am

I was browsing AZ's site, looking at the fleet info, when I noticed that the
business class configuration in the B772ER is 2-2-2.
Considering the cabin width of this aircraft this seems like a very
cumfy lay-out.
I was wondering about other T7 operators and their business class
layout.
Only one I know for sure is KL 2-3-2, and I think I saw a picture the other
day somewhere of EK also having 2-3-2.
I can understand that from a passengers point of view the 222 seems a lot
better, but in these difficult times, I frankly don't understand airlines who opt
for this layout, when there clearly is space enough to put in an extra seat.

CO operated their 777 BizFirst in 2-2-2.

But, then again, their Biz product is really a cross between an old style F/c and Biz...IMO.

The majority of 777 operators use a 2-2-2 config in J!

Yes EK uses 2-2-2 on 772's and 773's!

I'm scheduled on a flight on EK in Business Class and the seat config on the 773 is 2-3-2. The first class cabin is 2-2-2.

You are wrong. i honestly don't know who uses 2x2x2 in Business Class apart from CO/DL. The ones who don't have it: BA/AF/AA/UA

Does anybody know if AM will configure its 772ER's for 2-2-2 in Clase Premier (AM's designation for business class)?

AZ has a Premium Business Class called Magnifica Class. It is a hybrid between First and Business Class. This is a step up from regular business class and one step down from first in terms of space and seating.

There are no bed seats in Magnifica; however, the Recaro designed seats are pitched at 57", and recline to a 170 degree angle at the back and about the same at the feet. It isn't flat, but it is really comfortable. The seats are wide, about 21.5 inches, and the IFE is touch screen and on demand. In fact, AZ stepped up to put the latest, greatest IFE program in their 777s, so on demand anything is available simply by touching the screen.

There are 45 seats in Magnifica, split between the front cabin and a small portion of the second cabin. In the galley area is a wetbar set up for passengers to make their own drinks or obtain their snacks at any time during the flight.

Hence, the six across seating enhances the feel of a true F cabin without all the F class flourishes. Everything is served from the trolley, so there is some degree of personalized service at your table. The wines are above average and all Italian and the cheeses, especially coming from Italy are all fresh as is the fruit. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

Take a ride on it sometime; I think you will find it just as comfortable as any flat bed product out there.

Just to add on a bit about SQ's 777s... SQ operates both the 772ERs and 773. They have several different configs on their 772s, depending on whether they are for "regional" use (registration are 9V-SQ* and 9V-SR* ) or "long haul" (9V-SV*) use. Only the long haul B772ERS (9V-SV* series) feature the SpaceBed product, which usues a 2-2-2 layout in J/C class.

The rest of the 777 fleet (including the 773s) uses 2-3-2 configs.

Cheers!

Emirates are buggers for adding on that extra seat row. In both the 330 in C and in the 777 in both C and Y (10 abreast!!) They would make a good British charter carrier!

Just flew on Thai from Manilla to Bangkok on the 777 in C class.

The shocker: 2-4-2 !

In economy it is 3-4-3.

See it at http://www.thaiair.com/Travel_Destin...mation/Aircraft_Seatmaps/B7722.htm

Service, food, etc. were also lacking comared to SQ. Yet you pay the same. Duh.

TG's 772 are being converted to 2-2-2 lie-flat seats in Business class. The seatmap of that version (called 7723 by TG reservation) is http://www.thaiair.com/Travel_Destin...mation/Aircraft_Seatmaps/B7723.htm

Now heres something. BA has a 2-4-2 configuration on their 777's in C class. And these birds fly long haul. I've heard so many good reviews of the BA c class seat, but how? SQ have their long haul birds configured in 2-2-2, just compare.

Wow, I had no idea BA had 242 in club class.
It looks very cramped on this picture, but then again they are real flat's
, as opposed the most other biz-classes.
Is BA the only airline with alternate forward/rear facing seats?
I don't like to be facing opposite the flying direction.

Hi Intotheair, if you look closely it's 2-3-2 though it does look 2-4-2. It's confusing because of the way they have the seats positioned with alternating forward and backward facing seats.

As many have said earlier on this forum, pitch is more important than width.

My wife has flown this several time. She says that while the bed is a mite narrow, being able to stretch out flat makes it totally worth it. Also since they are alternate facing you gain a lot of space. They are teardrop shaped and narrower around the legs, where the body is narrower, so the alternate seat gains more space around the upper body.

Air France B777 are configured :

B777-200ER :

P : 2 x 2 x 2
J : 2 x 3 x 2
Y: 3 x 3 x 3

B777-300ER :

P : 1 x 2 x 1
J : 2 x 3 x 2
Y : 3 x 3 x 3

After their re-configuration with the NEV concept (NEV = Nouveaux Espaces de Voyage = NTC or New Travel Concept) the B772ER will have the same config. than the B773ER.

That probably explains why they are rated so well. I also don't like the idea of rear facing seats. What i find really generous is that SQ has 22 inches width in C class, UA doesn't even have that in F. but then you do have a point that SQ doesn't have "Complete flat beds" in C class, though as i flew on LH's new C class, the lie-flats were very comfortbale, and it almost felt like a real bed.
I'd rather have 22 inches pitch and a lieflat as with SQ, compared to 19-20 inches, and a flat bed with BA but that's personal opinion.

BA is 242, but the seat width is still 20" due to staggering and reverse directions. They also lie flat. A lot of people don't like the jigsaw puzzle and reverse direction config, but it is better than some other products.
