China Airlines 747-400 In MGA!

Mon Sep 26, 2005 3:53 am

Reg B-18212 landed at 1640UTC in MGA bringing the prime minister of Taiwan and some other members of the goverment for a meeting with all Central American presidents. Such a beautiful plane! A real contrast with the 73G from Copa and a 757 from AA that were on the ramp when it arrived! It almost did not fit in our narrow taxiways. I did not have my camera with me, but I'll see if I take some pics tomorrow.

Would this be the first 747 flight into Managua?

Anybody knows any 747 service to Managua in the past? airline/routing/type of 747 used/year or decade of service.

Gracias por todas las informaciones!!

I remember Clinton in one of it's last year as a president Air Force One arrived at MGA, don't remember the year exactly.

I know this is not the first 747 here in MGA. Some time ago an EVA Air 744 came for some presidential meeting as well.
Now, the only thing I can tell you for a fact is that the time when we'll see 744 often here in MGA is so far away. This China Airlines flight left today at about 1340UTC, it was quite an experience to see it manouver through the narrow taxiway, entering the RWY and making turns, not only that, when it took off the RWY is so narrow that the jet blast (specially when it was rotating) messed up some dirt and grass on the sides for about 40 meters!
