Can Someone Tell Me About This Pic?

Thu Sep 29, 2005 12:29 am

I've seen a couple of these jetways at JFK a while back and now I've seen them in this pic at Amsterdam(EHAM). Can someone tell me what the second jetway is used for/how it is used and/or why it's not being used for these a/c? Thanks a lot.

As George Carlin would say:

"...to expidite the boarding procedure..."

Seperate jetways for economy and first/business class...
This isn't where I parked my car...

The 2nd Jetway (the 'crane like' one) is so that passengers can board via exits located 'aft' of the wings (Door L4 on that KL 744 for example).  Smile

Thanks

They use it for boarding. Infact I have used it once on SQ 25.
A conclusion is what you reach when you get tired of thinking.

Amazing, I was just about to make a similar post... I thought these airbridges were designed specifically for 747s... so why are they not in use here?

Quoting Vasu (Reply 8):
so why are they not in use here?

For the same reason that many US airlines and airports no longer have double jetways: they require an extra person ($) telling people to go left or right when they get down the jetway. Many airlines have found it easier just to board through 2L on widebodies.
