VS A346 LHR BOM LHR During Nov?

Fri Sep 30, 2005 5:43 am

Anyone know why VS are sending their A346s to BOM for the month of November?. I thought there were issues with the taxiways and air bridges.

However its back to the A343 after December when they go daily.

How are the loads?

I am stoked about the A346 as I am flying BOM LHR in Nov in UCS!

Just speculation, but it could be because the A343's are having the suite fitted, and they might be increasing the rate they are being done once the summer season ends, but this is purely a guess.

No issues with taxiways and bridges, especially during their mid-day turn-around, that can not be solved, at BOM. VS tend to substitue equipment on India runs, blessing us with the hand-me-downs like the Virgin Nigeria "green engine" A-340-300 and previously with the Air Atlanta B-747s.

I guess they will have to standardise soon, and with newer planes.

BOM gets the A340-600 through November - the most modern plane in the VS fleet!

The Issue would be Wing tip Clearence. The Adjacent Two bays would need to be vacated.Since its Afternoons it would be fine.

Most modern plane in the VS fleet no doubt, but too little too late. Sandwiched between almost simultaneous departures by Air India, Jet Airways and British Airways departures from BOM to LHR, the Virgin ex-BOM product will need to do much better than hype and a consolation prize of a 340-600.

What Virgin needs in India is a total makeover and a promise of consistency, and more importantly an attitude change. I have a colleague whose VS DEL-LHR flight was cancelled because of low loads into and from Delhi a few months ago, and the after-cancellation service he got can be quoted here, if required, as an example in how an airline can start quoting fine print even if it goes againt the EU regulations.
