US Airways Hertiage A/C

Fri Sep 30, 2005 10:45 am

In today's Philadelphia Inquirer, there was a full page ad featuring a US Airways A320 in Allegheny colors (like the pictures they provided earlier). At the bottom, it said that this aircraft will be flying during the 1Q of 2006. My question is will the Allegheny scheme definately be on an A320 or on some other a/c. Also, will the other heritage a/c also be flying early in 2006?

Thanks

Jeff

From what we have been told, the type of a/c have not yet been chosen, they will be flying 1Q 2006 and there will be two of each. I got the information from theHub and from HP news letters.

Richard, have you heard how long US plans to have these aircraft painted in the heritage colors?

I believe it's permanent, like the HP special liveries currently

In a previous post a US employee said they would all be 320s.
I don't understand everything I don't know about this.

That's what the photos were... as an example... the actual type has not been decided on (from the information i got) Of course, I work for Piedmont, but all our information is the same.

The ad that you speak of first appeared in Tuesday's edition of the Inquirer as well as yesterday's edition.

Since there are already pictures of the heritage liveries on the 320s; my guess would be that, at least initially, 4 A320s will get the treatments... probably all HP aircraft (again, just a guess).

I, for one, am hoping that other aircraft types will receive similar liveries... kind of like the Star Alliance livery treatment seen on one or two (?) A319s, 757s, and recently the EMB-170.

If they scrap the HP logojets, I think they should use those...all the retro liveries would look great on the '57, some of them just look weird on an A320 though.

There was a full-page ad featuring an aircraft in the PSA scheme that appeared in the San Diego Union-Tribune about a week ago.

I hope the real aircraft is a 757.

Nah, keep the logojets (or themed jets); just repaint some of the current US 757s in the heritage schemes because on many of them, the dark blue paint job has either has either gotten dull and/or is pealing in some areas.

The type of aircraft has not been decided yet. They also told us they will paint aircraft in both fleets so all cities stand a chance of seeing them.

They had a full page ad in the Charlotte Observer with the Piedmont Airlines heritage A320. It noted that the plane would be dedicated to North Carolina based employees and passengers.

Airways Magazine had a clip that the theme jets get painted into the standard scheme here soon. Of course things change...and probably will...30 times.
