DL Goes ATL-BTV-ATL Non RON On CRJ!

Sun Oct 02, 2005 9:07 am

I thought this would work well based on O&D. Anyone know if this is a CR7 or a CR2 and when this is starting?
I can only find it on DL online timetable sometime between now and Dec

Leave: ATL 1230 Ar BTV 1505

seems like double-daily BTV-ATL but not sure
One leaves BTV at 7:10am/10:08 arrival
Other leaves BTV at 3:30pm/6:21pm arrival
What now?

Talk about a long CRJ flight... I guess it's better than no N/S ATL at all.

Could this be another market to lose CVG service in exchange of the ATL fortification? It goes from 3x to 2x, but we will see.

I am wondering when we will see the remaining cities with CVG only service get ATL flights. The only cities I can think of off the top of my head are FSD, CID and CMI (Champaign/Urbana, IL)

The cities with DL nonstops to CVG but not ATL:

ACY, BGM, BGR, CID, CMI, ERI, FSD, HVN, SCE

I wouldn't rule any of them out for ATL service, but I think I've heard someone say that HVN's runway length would restrict takeoff weight.

If you ask me - ATL-BGR and ATL-FSD seem a bit far fetched, pretty much if those happened, then places like BIL, FAR, GEG, DLH, RST, YWG would also seem like goot ATL destinations - but then again Delta flies SLC-BDL and other odd routes.

Actually, it will be BOS that looses BTV service. BTV-CVG is here to stay for now.

BTV-BOS is no longer on Comair CRJs? Makes sense. I can't imagine it brought in much of anything, other than maybe some low-yield connections via BOS.

The key to ERI service is making it cheap enough that people don't feel the need to drive to CLE/PIT/BUF... especially if they can fly to their final destination directly from those airports (specifically PIT/CLE) versus connecting flying from ERI. And when you're running CRJ's and cheap fares, you don't make money, as Delta is very used to.

I would venture to say that this is not an odd route for DL at all ... BDL is somewhat of a focus city and SLC is a hub. It was meant to be.

I second that. SLC is a hub obviously, and BDL already gets a lot of p2p service, like to PBI or CMH.
You want an odd route, try the proposed MSY-LIT service  Wink , which fell victim to Katrina.
