VS Old A343's

Mon Oct 03, 2005 5:44 am

What are VS going to do with their oldest A343's in the future (G-VFLY, G-VBUS etc)?

I know that G-VBUS went to Virgin Nigeria recently. G-VFLY went to the French Air Force. It looks as though a lot of the early 340-300's are leased and Virgin will probably ride those out until they are needed to be returned. I would say that Virgin's aircraft that are older and not exactly needed with the mainline fleet will go within the Virgin Co. to airlines like Virgin Nigeria.

Not quite correct, G-VFLY is still in service with VS, as is G-VBUS.

G-VBUS is currently painted in Virgin Nigeria colours, but is still owned by VS, and operates on a wet lease for Virgin Nigeria, and still does VS ops.

The only A343 to have left the fleet so far is G-VSKY - which went to BWIA a while ago.

The oldest A343s (G-VBUS, G-VAEL, G-VFLY & G-VSUN) are all destined to leave the fleet by December 2006.

The other five A343s are being fitted with the Upper Class Suite and will be around for the forseeable future.

Hope this helps.

Thought G-VHOL, G-VSEA, G-VGOA, G-VATL were owned by Airbus not VS.

Isnt G-VSKY (now 9Y-JIL) stilled owned by VS ?

G-VBUS is more often than not found on the LHR-DEL route. It is a particularly shabby aircraft, and he green engines do not match the rest of the aircraft either. Oh well.
