Flight Cancelled - Rebooked On Earlier Flight

Wed Oct 05, 2005 4:46 am

Long time lurker, first time poster...

So it looks like DH is cutting back Vegas flights after all...I was booked on the redeye returning the night of October 31 and was automatically rebooked on the morning flight. Do I have the option of requesting a refund in light of the fact that the new flight leaves about 12 hours earlier than the original flight, or will I just have to request a credit? Thanks.

Wouldn't it be offered you automatically if you were intitled to any credit?

I'm entitled to a credit good towards future travel on the airline no matter what, minus the $25 fee. I was wondering if I could get a refund on the cost of the one-way ticket.

Yeah, I'm not really getting a straight answer from the airline. I asked for a refund and the reservations agent acted like she didn't hear me.

ok, depends on your fare. Technically if you are inconvenianced you are can be refunded without penalty or rebooked.

If you do not use the ticket hold on to it, have them document your reservation saying pax will use ticket for later flight. Then you should beable to at the least apply it to a new ticket cost.

They gave me a credit for future travel but waived the cancellation fee - not too bad either. Thanks for your help.

I've had flights changed on me before and gotten emails from services like Orbitz that claim I can get a refund if the total number of minutes between the original flight(s) and the new flight(s) is greater than 90. I've never tried to get a refund yet, but it sounds like it might be possible depending on where you buy the ticket from. In any case, it sounds like you did alright.

Just read this, "Delta reducing flights to save fuel" Most likely flights to be affected, early morning, and late evening.

Damn - according to their Contract of Carriage I was entitled to a refund to my credit card. Back to Customer Service...

I think in casese like that you should be entitled to a refund -- and unfortunately, you often have to fight to get it. I always suspect that airline staff are trained to give you nothing without disputing it with you

I agree, and it's not only airline staff, unfortunately. I'm sure they would have played dumb for the third time had I not mentioned the contract of carriage.
