New DL Paint Scheme

Sat May 13, 2000 9:22 am

I just heard that an MD-88 and a 757 were painted in the new Delta paint scheme. Can anyone confirm this or has anyone seen one yet?? Interesting, these planes dont seem like ones Dl would lease to Aeroflot

I can confirm that a 757-232 has been painted, I believe the registration is N624DL.

I'd love to see an MD-11 in new colors. I think that would look the best. Do you think they will paint them in new colors?

How could Delta do this to their planes ??, I mean they changed a great scheme for a bad Scheme then the bad Scheme for a terrible Scheme !!

How could you hate it? It's an absolutely beautiful work of art! It will look great on every single one of their planes, and I hope it stays for a long, long time. Don't you just love the flag on the back?

NO I do not just love it. Anyway you should be dealing with you own affair (AA because of your username). You have no right to make such comments about Delta!
Just kidding

I would like the flag on Delta's tail if it had any relevance to anything on this earth related to Delta or the United States. Although it is a very beautiful paint scheme, it just doesn't belong on a Delta plane! I think they should have made a flag with a widget on it for the tail; something like a revision of the first livery.

Just curious, in the press release from Landor, they explicitly say they dropped the "Air Lines" from the Delta titles. Now it simply reads: Delta. Why did they do this, whats wrong with "Air Lines." Interestingly Delta was the only carrier who spelled airlines in 2 words. My number 2 question is if they did drop the "Air Lines" from the title, what will happen when they apply the new c/s to Delta Express, Delta Shuttle, and Delta Connection? Will they all loose the modifier, and become "Delta?"

Pul-eeze. Aeroflot's new scheme is way more creative. Heck, most of the bare-body planes out in the Mojave Desert look better than Delta's new scheme. Score -10 for lack of creativity. I liked the interim paint scheme. Why'd they change it?

I saw the 757 in DFW this morning as DFW-JETS just posted. It was the first time I saw the new livery in-person, and man it looks terrible - like a cheap las vegas charter carrier or something. They really need to get their logo on the tail somehow. If the pics turn out well I'll post them up here soon.

Part of the paint scheme goes along with Delta's new strategy to be a more "people oriented" airline. They're trying to focus more on what the customer wants, and they're trying to come across as less formal. The thought here is that "Delta" is a little softer than "Delta Air Lines."

Say, wouldn't this livery be better on the Delta jets?

I hope I've got the permission to repaint the pic, but if not, tell the admin to remove it.

I saw your picture Danny and I think you should send it into Delta! Its looks alot better then what they came up with. When DL first changed their colors, I have to admit it took sometime to get use to them. Then when they came out with this latest color scheme I couldn't believe that Delta would actually apply that to a airplane. Pretty bad!

Hi!
Thanks guys! I just took two pics from the database and used the old "cut and paste" in Paint and Paint Shop Pro. You're right, I think I'll send it to Delta. Wouldn't it be cool of they accepted it?

C'ya!
