about the DL PDX-NRT service. The service was overal good. They fly MD-11's on that particular route. The seating in economy is 2-5-2. I would recommend getting a seat on teh window side, I've been stuck in the middle row of 5 and found it to be the most uncomfortable espeically for a flight of that length. The movies played in economy aren't that great. 30 minutes after take off they'll show you a sitcom.. either friends, home improvement, wil and grace or seinfeld.. later on they'll show 1 late run movie and then after that it's pure crap.. either films from the 80's and some lame short films.. you'll get served drinks once you reach the cruising altitude.. of about 33,000 to 35,000 ft. Shortly after that you'll get served lunch, since the flight departs around lunch time.. The meals are usually your typical beef, chicken and sometimes they offer japanese selections. Leg room is generous if you're lucky enough to get seat 30.. which is hte first row of seats in the main economy cabin.. the rest of hte sears are tight on legroom that's if you're tall.. in my case im only 5'9" and don't mind it. Last december I flew to NRT and used my miles to upgrade to business elite and got seat 1a.. which is merely feet from teh cockpit. The service in bus elite is excellent! They offered us a choice of orange juice or champagne before take off and we also got bottled water before we took off as well.. Like all busness/first class services on other airlines, you'll recieve the typical amentites kit, which includes: a toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, kleenex, ear plugs, do not disturb stickers, lotion, socks, and a blind fold.. The seats in bus elite were very comfortable.. and they went back far enough for you to enjoy a good nap on the trip.. the food services were good. They start out with a snack of roasted nuts, which was nice and warmed up.. you get drinks offered allll hte time through out the flight. They will refill it for you as often as you'd like. I thought they were generous with the amoutn of drinks offered. The lead FA usually caters to all bus elite passengers. They call you mr. name, ms name. etc.. very polite.. You get 2 menues.. 1 has a selection of meals.. which I should've kept, but I left it on the plane.. and a 2nd menu with a big selection of wines and spirits. They offer you a ton of different appetizers.. such as sushi, rolls, salads. etc.. and then onto the main entrie.. they serve it to you by first placing a table cloth, and placing everything onto your table neatly.. after your meal you're then offered more drinks.. The bus elite was far better than other business classes that i've expericesed with Northwest and Korean Air. Well if there is anything else you'd like to know post it here and i'll get back to you..
