What Happened To Japan Air 17 On 10/5?

Thu Oct 06, 2005 6:37 am

What has happened to this flight (quite frequently?) It is always delayed for some reason but it arrived at 10:10 this morning and information dicates that it has been sitting on the ground for more than 4 hours and 20 minutes so far. Is there a policy towards JL that makes the plane frequently delayed? I also saw JL12 to MEX, delayed for 1 hour although it arrived 45 minutes ahead of schedule.

Sometimes......... (yeah bash me all you want) I am frustrated when taking JL because it never pushes back on time. Is there a reason to this? For instance in YVR, every other planes manages to push back on time (with small delays of 5 minutes). But if JL is always late like this, it must affect the connections in NRT that pax are making and the usage of the aircraft must be extremely restricted.

This is the aircraft flying the route today. I hope they can keep to their schedules more often. But is it that they wait for every single pax to get on the plane and is that the reason that it is delayed or are there catering problems?

I don't know actually, but the aircraft operating these routes are usually the K61 pax-configuration and also heavily used on NRT-AMS flight.
And in fact, those flights are about 98% on time or early! So it's not the aircraft which causes delays... (usually of course!)

In my opinion, JL operates their schedule with a quite good and impressive on-time performance  Smile

Yes sorry...... I am not saying everything of JAL is disastrous. I am saying that this particular flight (especially 17) is disastrous. I have been flying this route for 6 years (3 times per year) and out of the 18 times that I have been on the flight, I never had an early (on-time) departure

please check

www.jalcargo.com

and go to international status information and type in 17 for various dates (excluding Mondays and Thursdays). It is always late. Its strange. Other JL flight such as 761, 771, 777, 60, 1, 9, 5 are almost always on time.

So is it the guys on the ground or what? Because other CX, MU, AC, CA, CI, BR, KE, SQ flights out of YVR always manage to push-back right on time except for JL.

It finally pushed back at 2:30 pm with a 4 hour 20 minute ground time.

Good luck to the FA and the Pilots. It must be a very very very tiring flight.
