Where To See Cessnas On Scheduled Services?

Thu Oct 06, 2005 8:37 pm

There are a few airlines that use Cessnas (primarily the 208B I guess) on scheduled services. One I can think of is Air Caraibes in the French West Indies on routes between Fort de France and the smaller islands around Gouadeloupe, as well as to St. Maarten, St. Martin, St. Barth.

Which other airlines use Cessnas on schduled services? On which routes?

Some small airline tried the 208B Grand Caravan hopping between some of the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. They switched to the Pilatus PC-12 because on some legs they wanted to fly high and the unpressurized cabin of the Caravan cramped their style IIRC.

Personally I'd like to ride the Mach 0.92 Citation X on a scheduled flight....

Coastal Aviation flies Caravans all over Tanzania. I took one on a rather long (for a Cessna) segment from Arusha to Zanzibar, and another on a short hop from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam. Great little operation!

Schedules online here: http://www.coastal.cc/. They have some amusing registrations, like the following:

I once flew out to Bethel, Alaska, to offload a DC-6, and I remember seeing Cessna Caravans and 206's come in like 737's come in to Phoenix - one after another.

I have to tell you though, I'm not a big fan of Phoenix. It's kind of like L.A. for the price of El Paso....but I'd take it over Bethel.

If you go there, bring extra ass gaskets and Costco muffins.
