Apparently the plane crashed into the train tracks behind the Masonic Temple, missing Confusion Corner ( a very busy intersection in Winnipeg) by about 100 metres. Had it crashed there, it most certainly would have resulted in civilian casualties.

May the pilot rest in peace...

I drove right by the crash sight cursing the morning traffic. Naturally, I assumed it had to do with the recent snow (In case you don't know, weather-wise YWG is one of the principal assholes of the world); there's no evidence at all as you drive by that there's been a catastrophe. I didn't realize that there'd been a crash till my ophthalmologist gave me the reason for his being late for our appointment--he too was delayed in traffice because of the crash.

In truth, it's not that miraculous that the plane didn't hit a building. There's a lot of green space on both sides of the train tracks where it came down. It's virtually an open field.

Yes, but apparantly destroyed in the resulting blaze. There's a large virology lab in YWG.

Isnt exactly Fed Ex. But a company called "Morning Star Express". Based in Edmonton they do contract work for Fed Ex to all the small communities in Canada. In this case she was flying cargo to Thunder Bay.

It is an incredibly widespread virus. A true human parasite and a really successful survivor. Loads of people are infected with it, in fact most people carry one or more of them (there are several viruses within this group), especially the infamous Herpes simplex which can cause genital herpes and cold sores (ever had a cold sore? I bet loads of people in this thread are now worried - don't be, but educate yourself). Probably half or more of the people reading this thread are infected with Herpes simplex. Scary, huh?  Smile

I wouldn't worry about it's presence in this crash. The influenza virus is more of a concern, but it sounds like it won't have survived the crash conditions.

Best regards,

Jim
Erm, is this thing on?

Temp was near freezing with light snow...I'm going to make a guess of icing being a factor here....

I was talking to a friend, and he said Caravans have an icing problem with the compartment on the bottom of the aircraft? Did I hear him right? It was more of a passing conversation.
