Port-Au-Prince Safety Concerns

Fri Oct 07, 2005 5:15 am

Every time I fly on commercial flights, the screening area usually has an ominous warning sign saying that the airport in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, has ineffective security standards. This would seem to imply it's the only airport in the world that doesn't meet our security criteria. So, what is the security problem at the Port-au-Prince airport and why do we still fly commercial flights there if that's the case?

They're not as paranoid as the others I guess.

PUJ airport is also quite lacking security if you ask me. There's a 50cm space between the roof and the wall after security that lets you pass something from outside quite easily. But well, there's never been any problem so...
It's not about AIRBUS. it's not about BOEING. It's all about the beauty of FLYING.

The signs also used to list Lagos, Nigeria as an unsafe destination.
