I would imagine Lansing can kiss that half a million bucks goodbye.
Tired of airline bankruptcies....EA/PA/TW and finally DL.

Why?

Can't the airport just lock DL/NW's gate doors until payment is made?

I don't see what the problem is. Bankruptcy only protects DL and NW from commerical and corprate debts, not any owed to government agencies. Capital City Airport is owned by the City of Lansing, MI. The Bankruptcy Judge will see that every airport that is still owed money will get paid. It is only a question of when the airports will be paid.

While Lansing may be owed $415K, ALT and MSP are owed millions by DL and NW. Since they are the mega-carriers at their respective airports, ALT and MSP would loose a much larger percentage of their budgets than Lansing would. But, you don't hear anything from ALT or MSP, do you? Do you know why? It is because ALT and MSP know that all airports are going to be paid for landing fees, fuel handling fees, aircraft parking fees and terminal leases.

This is not a problem, and Capital City should have access to enough of the City's Lawyers to have already told them that.

My guess is they want to get rid of someone or something and is using the DL and NW bankruptcies as a scapegoat explaniation to the press.

No, the BK Judge will not let them do that. Nor, can the airport withold fuel from them.

Well no wonder NW can't pay its LAN tab. It's spending all that money starting service to where ever Allegiant flies. Sheesh.

Untrue. Airport Authorities and Vendors do have the right to do this. An example would be in the case of Midway II, when San Jose Jet Center refused to fuel the daily SJC-RDU flight until they recieved a wire transfer for purchase. The Airport/Vendors may not be able to forcibly collect for payments, but they can withhold services for current payment of services.

I beleive it is so that they can demand payment of services rendered AFTER Ch.11 was declared. But debt that was accumulated before Ch.11, is 'locked' and under the authority of the court.

Not while under court protection. The airports are required to supply gates as usual. That's the law. Not always fair, but that's the way it is.
