Tue Oct 11, 2005 1:04 am

I have always been very curious as to what typs of service Heathrow sees to Asia. Can anyone list each airline, what cities they serve and the frequencies please? I would appreciate it.

Also Eva to Taiwan, not sure if its non-stop.
JAL are more than twice daily, BBJII, I've seen 3 or 4 on some days.
I also though that KE were twice daily, though the second might be a Freighter.

If your not just counting East Asia, PIA are 2 or 3 daily to Islamabad with 742/3.
Air India three daily I think 744 + 772.
Iran Air 1 or 2 daily 741/2.
Emirates 2 daily 332 and 3 daily 773 soon.

Thats about it.

BG (Biman) flies to DXB and DAC as mentioned by Crosswind, but also to ZYL - Sylhet in Bangladesh -- one way though -- from LHR to ZYL via DXB and DAC. Passengers from ZYL must connect in DAC on westbound flights.

Wasim, is that 2 or three flights daily?
I normally only see one a day, normally in the morning. DC10/ A310.
Does Biman do any other outes in Europe with this amount of frequency and capacity?

Also Turkmenistan & Uzbekistan show up with a 752/763 occaisionly.

How many daily flights does LHR see?

So basically every major city in Asia has non-stop service to LHR on a daily basis?

(Lazy)shaun,

I think BG has 6 weekly flights, 3 A310, 3 DC10. The 3 A310 flights are DAC-DXB-LHR-DXB-DAC-ZYL. The DC-10s are usually routed DAC-DXB-LHR-DAC.

They have 4 other flights to Europe, usually routed DAC-DXB-FCO-ORY-DAC, DAC-DXB-FCO-FRA-DAC and the other two DAC-DXB-BRU-JFK R/T. Of course, Biman being Biman, these routes are often changed, and sometimes without much notice.

Best,

Pretty much, but there are some exceptions...

Bali - no London service
Bangalore - no London service currently, but BA starts LHR-BLR in a few weeks
Guangzhou/Canton - no London service
Hyberadad - no London service
Manila - no London service
Nagoya - no London service
Taipei - no non-stop stop service, only EVA via BKK 5x weekly

LHR is the centre of the Universe.

These carriers serve all major European airports. CDG and FRA even more than once a day.

In fact LHR is the weakest of the big three in Europe concerning traffic to Asia.

Malaysia Airlines actually also serves Penang twice weekly from LHR enroute to Kuala Lumpur. They also currently serve Langkawi twice weekly also but this route is being dropped with the arrival of the Winter05 timetable and will operate to Kuala Lumpur non-stop.

Yeah, why didn't I think of that, as i'm living in Penang. Yes, their route is LHR-PEN-KUL-LHR so the only time we see the any 747-400pax version in Penang is twice weekly. Such a highlight when I go spotting to see that magic 747-400 arrive from LHR.

Cheers, Konstantin G.

I stand corrected - Malaysia Airlines will keep its LHR-LGK-KUL and LHR-PEN-KUL service right through the winter season... yay!

LHR the weakest among Big 3 in europe regarding flights to Asia? I don't agree with you at all...

LHR definitely with busiest Asian-bound traffic from Europe
FRA will be the second and CDG is far behind

Klyk1980, I completely agree with you.
While FRA and CDG may have more airlines, they can't compete with capacity.
LHR doesn't have routes to many airports in China and Indonesia, and the Philipines, true but they have up to 5 or 6 or 7 744 load fulls to the likes of SIN, BKK, NRT and HKG.
