BAX/LH Cargo New TOL Flights

Thu Oct 13, 2005 12:46 pm

Lufthansa Cargo will be starting a couple new daily flights into BAX Global's TOL hub.

Effective Oct 16th, they will begin using a 747-400F from TOL to HKG, stopping in ANC for fuel. Flight will operate 2 to 4 times per week. This route was initially to be done with a Kalitta 747-200, but LH has it as a 744 - more than likely Atlas. Also starting soon will be 747-200 service operated by Atlas for LH Cargo to Frankfurt (apparently).

Overall good news for the TOL hub as BAX was having issues for a few years there. Qantas continues to operate its weekly flight to SYD from TOL (tech stop in HNL) with the Atlas 744F.

Hopefully an announcement on additional widebody flying will come soon as the DC-8s are getting pretty tired.  Smile

To be precise it's not Lufthansa Cargo... it's Lufthansa Cargo Charter, which is a subsidiary of LH Cargo but still a separate company within the group.
LH cargo doesn't have much to do with this except they might buy some of the capacity of the flight - if there is any left and there is a need for it.

Apparently these flights are "chartered" by BAX.

What ever happened to BAX being for sale? Still looking for buyers?

... no as "Condor Cargo" is called "cargo counts" - another LH cargo subsidiary that sels and markets the cargo capacity of DE, JK and some other (mainly charter) airlines...  Wink

These flights are similar to the Qantas operation...esentially joint ventures by LH and BAX. More info is posted on the Toledo board on usaflying.com
