Carpatair Buying JetsGo's F100s?

Fri Oct 14, 2005 6:34 am

Hi

I was searching Wikipedia and I typed Carpatair. Some really interesting information i found there, regarding the introduction of jet service for them.

Fleet
The Carpatair fleet consists of the following aircraft (at October 2005):

9 Saab 2000
5 Saab 340B

Carpatair will introduce the first jet aircraft to its fleet with the purchase of three Fokker F100 aircraft from the bankrupt Canadian airline Jetsgo. It will use two on its own services and sub-lease the third to sister airline Moldavian Airlines (ref: Airliner World, October 2005).

For those of you who don't know anything about Carpatair; they fly out of Timisoara Romania to a number of cities in Europe, mostly Italy, Hungary and Germany.

That would be quite a step up from the 34- and 50-seaters they have operated so far. Despite the fairly strong economic growth in Eastern Europe, I find it somewhat hard to believe that Carpatair would be able to profitably operate two 100 seaters on its current network.

BTW I haven't found any confirmation of this story on their website:

HAJFlyer,

I know. I checked it too. However, they mention the source as this month's Airliner World. I should go buy it and see.

Cheers,

The aircraft are currently in Dinard, the first one will go to sister carrier Moldavian Airlines, the next two will go to Carpatair then.

That's great news. They're an awesome airline and I wish the all the best. I wonder what routes they'll use them on.

Cheers,

Thanks for the correction; they currently are in DNR, not WOE; couldn't check my info.
Any idea when they will be delivered?
