Shortest Domestic Flight Using Foreign Airspace

Sat Oct 15, 2005 4:58 am

What is the shortest commercial domestic flight that involves overflying foreign airspace ?

I can only think of MUC-DRS, which uses czech airspace most of the time, but there must be something shorter....

How about SZG-INN ? Does OS remain within austrian airspace on that route?

I would nominate BUF-DTW. While a bit longer than Munich-Dresden, pretty much the entire flight would be over extreme southern Ontario, Canada for the shortest routing. Whereas the MUC-DRS flight would have a smaller portion of its flight in Czech airspace.

How about ZRH-BSL which used to be served by SR/LX in the past.

The great circle distance is 49 miles and the flights pass through German and French airspace. That has to be a record of some sort.

I'd go with DTW-CLE.

How about YVR-YYJ. The routing is not always the same but usually involves going over American airspace VERY briefly. It is a 39mile flight.

There have certainly been a lot of shortest route threads lately.
