Question About CO 73G?

Tue Oct 18, 2005 1:00 am

Saturday in the afternoon I was passing by my home airport MFE, as I was passing by, I saw a 737-700 with winglets parked next to the control tower.

Does anybody by any chance know why the aircraft was parked next to the control tower?
The front door on the left side was open, with nobody around, and also with stairs.

Was it some kind of an emergency or engine problems, because there has been engine problems before with CO 737-300's . Where they had to transport and engine from Houston to McAllen.

But any info on this 73G would be helpful.

Give the airport operations folk a call and ask them, propbably the best source of info....also the 700's have different engines than the 300's.

Maybe was it the airplane's wingspan.

MFE has had CO 757, and 737-800's with winglets before, and i'm pretty sure if the gates handel those aircraft, they could handel a 73G.

A few minutes ago I called the airport to ask about this, but they had me on hold forever.

When I passed by, all gates where empty. I'm guessing that wasn't a problem

True, but I guess I'll never know why the CO 73G was parked next to the control tower.

Sure you can always call the tower, heck if a pilot lots of time you get asked to call the tower! Bet if you look under US gov't in the white pages you will find a number for it....they may not be able to tell ya but they just might.

I'll just try that then, maybe it will take time, but I'll do it.
Maybe it's something to do with the goverment or something thats why they won't tell me, because I have called before and they have given me info. For example when that 737-300 that I was talking about, it needed a new engine and parked the plane next to the control tower, and the engine came from Houston, it was parked there for 2 days. This was about 2 years ago.

They had no problem giving me that info. Thats just weird.

I've always called, and they have always given me info.

Just a couple of months ago I called because I was on the way to work and saw an AA 738 landing at MFE, I found that odd. Usually we only get MD-80's.
I searched info on the internet and it was coming from CCS to DFW.
But then I called the Airport and they told me it did come from CCS on to DFW, but made a refueling stop at MFE.
-And had no problem telling me this
