Concorde Towing At CDG

Wed Oct 19, 2005 10:26 pm

Two days before an Air France Concorde has been towed along Taxiway November to the Air France building. A marshaller of the A.D.P. (Aeroports de Paris) told me it will be put in front of the building on a socket just like some aircrafts at the museum in Speyer (Germany). I took some pictures but sadly I only had a company camera with a very bad quality. Maybe some of the spotters here located at CDG can take better pics???

I saw it today, they put it near Terminal 3.

It's great to have it here, it makes going to work even more enjoyable.

What a great idea,
pity those spoil sports (BAA & BA) at LHR couldn't do the same rather than leave theirs beside a disused runway.

That looks absolutely awesome! Why is it only the AF Concordes are being shown off in this way? BA Have a scale model at LHR but thats it! There's no insides left on G-BOAB, so no-one is going on board her, why not have her on pillars similar to Sinsheim/CDG outside T5 at LHR?

GDB, your thoughts?

My thoughts are that CDG has plenty of spare space, LHR does not.

OAB is probably in a temporary location in the medium to long term, but I don't think T5 is an eventual permanent location.

Finally, when the dedicated people reassembling and restoring G-BBDG at Brooklands are done, when this aircraft has the most access internally of any Concorde, anywhere, you'll be glad that OAB donated cabin and cockpit parts to make this possible.
In any case, OAB did not have a complete interior after mid 2002 anyway.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they have used parts from AB for DG.

Surely 3 pillars won't take that much room up will they? It would be awesome to see a BA Concorde "flying" the way those 2 AF Concordes are.

The Magisters outside LeBourget are certainly impressive, as are the contents of the museum.

CDG has plenty of room for growth, so unlike LHR, I cannot think of anywhere at LHR when sticking a 203 foot long aircraft, even on slits, would be easy to do, without a knock on effect elsewhere.
HAL would also have to approve, this was all looked at 2 years ago, where OAB ended up was seen as the best and most possible solution in the short term.
