Sunwing Airlines - Any Info?

Fri Oct 21, 2005 12:44 am

Hey,

Does anyone have any info yet on the soon-to-be-launched Candian charter carrier Sunwing Airlines? Have they obtained their AOC yet? Do they have an ICAO/IATA carrier code? Are they going to have a separate website from Sunwing Vacations? Is there a contact phone number to get information about them?

I know their first flight is for around Nov 18th.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Andrew

Do they have something to do with Excel?

They wanted Excel flying for them last year, and their livery on the 738 (which Excel operates aswell) is exactly the same bar names and tail colour:

SWG/K0 (k zero)
Ops begin Nov. 17th out of T1 with 1 737-800 coming from Excel...
Swissport will be ground handling out of YYZ
Loads are not looking to good to start but we will see...

Ricardo, loads aren't good for Sunwing so far? I'm sure they'll do well, they know the market already. I am surprised about T1 though ...

Etihad will also be using T1. More room is becoming available at T1/IFT, so why not use the space?

James, with Skyservice still operating the 757 on Sunwing's behalf out of T3, I thought it might be easier to incorporate all Sunwing flights out of the same terminal. I don't see how two aircraft would cause space issues at T3, although I'm sure they had their reasons for choosing T1.

Maybe Skyservice is secretly planning to move into T1 and hasn't said anything yet?? I doubt though they would want to leave beautiful T3.
