AirMadrid Will Fly BCN/SJO

Fri Oct 21, 2005 10:07 pm

I don't have a link [unfortunately] but the TV news shows that AirMadrid will fly non stop [?] BCN/SJO.
Sorry, but the information that I got definitely insufficient.
Will appreciate if somebody knows something else.

Too bad SJO doesn't get served directly by more prestigious airlines....we don't really have the choice..If only there were , IB would certainly offer an extremely good product due to competition

But its good news at least and shows SJO and costa Rica are in good health travelwise

If this is true, it is truly outstanding news. Only one stop from Cork, Barcelona and on to San Jose.

This is good news.

Well IB is a very decent choice. AA [not my favourite through MIA and DFW] as many others through MIA also [as well through NY]. Not direct[understand non-stop, with the expections of the Spanish ones] flights, but we do have choices. Some others through CCS also.

I wouldn't call IB or NM's service good, it is Mediocre at best. Flight attendants in IB disappear after meal service, leaving you unattended for the remaining 8 hours.

Will this flight also be via PTY? This route makes perfect sense, becouse most of the Spanish Expats in Central America are from the Valencia and Galicia region, and usually they are just connectin in MAD, MAD is not their final destination most of the time.

My personal experience with IB was different [at least in biz]. But in most of the airlines with service of or over seven hours [and sometime less time, and I would say with the ONLY exception in LatAm of LA], ALL the flight attendants make the "disappearing act" after service. In that case we don't have other option but to pulse the "call button".

Ok you have got the money for flying biz.Try flying economy and you'll understand what I meant by in my posts....but I do agree about the disappearing act.

I just don'tlike how IB says in their timetable booklet how they offer premium service...and how they have one of the the most modern fleet in europe...don 't really agree because for me modern includes PTV's in Economy, something which they lack..

And this whole business of making people pay the same price as before for lets say GVA -SJO with deteriorated service between GVA and MAD (not serving food onbard) is totally ridiculous for a legacy carrier that claims to be veryprofitable. They could at least reduce the price of the GVA-MAD leg and make our ticket price drop.

Too bad we don't really have a choice for flying directly to SJO.
And no thank you, I will never again fly through the U.S ............

The key point is that there are more and more connections between Central America and Europe avoiding US immigration. My wife and we would like to come to Costa Rica for Vacations when we will be able to (currently difficult because of our child) and since she is not an EU citizen it'll be essential for us to get around the US. For you Central Americans it's the same issue.

A modern fleet could OR could not having PTV's in Economy. It's an customer's airline choice. IB has a really modern fleet especially in the A-340 fleet even though their aircraft have not PTV's in Economy.

The issue here PTV's increase the final MTOW. IB, like for instance LH does, prefers have not PTV's in Coach Class and arranging a MTOW with a bigger pay load.

I am sorry If I am another person who had diferent point of view, but my last trasatlantic flt was between MEX-MAD in AM's flt and the F/A never disappeared after lunch they were all the time in the pax cabin offering more beverages/wine/beer and some bread, maybe in other airlines this things happens but in my flt... just NO.... cheers Vic
