1st Order Vs. Launch Customer

Sun Oct 23, 2005 1:24 pm

It may perhaps be a silly question or it has been covered before. (If yes, skip this thread), however, I am still puzzled by the 1st to order and Launch Customer differences.

Example: AF was the 1st to order the A318, however Frontier got the first plane; equally Emirates was the first to order the A380 (back then the A3XX) and it is Singapore that is getting the first plane.

Any info about these differences would be appreciated.

Thanks  bigthumbsup

Certainly in the case of Emirates with the A380 it can't be the overall launch customer because it ordered the GP engine rather than the RR engine. However it will be the launch customer for the GP engine.
