CHX And Jet2 Expansion

Mon Oct 24, 2005 11:56 pm

With jet2 fast becoming a northern based LLC there are rumors starting to occur about its HQ been moved from BOU to up north. With no more aircraft based at BOU doing cargo runs there is no longer praticual sense for the HQ been at BOU. Another rumor is that jet2 will be pulling off the Belfast route altogether. With more 757s been introduced into service soon it is likely that the days of CHX at BOU is numbered.

I know that the EDI route will be done by the CHX QC that is based there. Not heard anything on the NCL routes though.

I dont understand how jet2 works. Do the aircraft operate royal mail flights at night because from timetables it looks like they dont utilise aircraft very effciently!

Hi

If your talking about Belfast-Bournemouth, this is ending on Sunday 30th.

Some of there aircraft do but it depends if they are the QC version. None of the aircraft at MAN, Leeds operate these flights as far as I know. The edinburgh and belfast aircraft operate cargo flights at night. There is also a QC at both Stansted and Exeter for charter use. The Stansted based aircraft does the channel island run on a sunday when the papers are heavier. The exeter aircraft does night mail runs I think to NMEA but i'm not to sure on that.

I am still confused to why there are 20 Jet2 aircraft and so few routes - it looks from timetables that aircraft only operate one flight a day?? Surely an effective LCC would utilise aircraft?

All the aircraft are owned by the dart group and operate the flights under the jet2 name which is a trading name of channel express air services. Its complictated I know.

I'm not sure how many jet2 aircraft there are but I didn't think it was that many though.
