ExpressJet Makes Profit Again

Tue Oct 25, 2005 5:24 am

On Oct 20, 05 ExpressJet Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:XJT) reported third quarter net income of 25.5 million. Wow! That's pretty good for an airline these days in the U.S. Big grin

Great news, I hope we see ExpressJet in the US skies for a long time to come! Big grin

Any chance they will get larger Embraers such as the ERJ-170?

I love the ExpressJet ERJ-145XR's!  Smile

Nope.. The current contract with the pilots prohibit them and anything larger then 50 seats. 'Word' has it they are trying to change that...

Hey Guys, just a little FYI. First thing, the picture on top with all Express jet all in row, the one that sticks out is A/C 575 if you notice the rudder in the middle is all blue that is because a CO 737 struck the tail while the Express jet was sitting due to weather in the area. The 737 was taxing on Yankee not only did he struck one plane but three. A/C 575 was the worst out of all three it was down for 13 days. The other two were down for 36 hours just waiting for parts.

Since Expressjet is flying Fee-for-departure flights on a majority, if not all, of their flights, then it's safe to assume that there will be an operating profit made.

Express Jet is a vendor airline. Continental pays them a flat rate for completing flights. A profit margin is built into the fee paid by Contiental. They make a profit for a flight whether is flies empty or full.

They aren't an airline like a mainline carrier.
Tired of airline bankruptcies....EA/PA/TW and finally DL.

Not if Continental's pilots have anything to say about it

Not only are they FPD, but CO pays for all fuel over 70 cents a gallon. That means Continental is getting reamed on regional right now. I actually doubt they would want to be expanding XJT flying unless they could drastically change contract terms

Shame that 737 didn't take a few more out!

Hey MaxQ, What is the reason for feeling that way. Your a pilot Right! So you should know that if a plane is fifty seater or 300 that should not matter the responsibility is same, That is to operate safely and get everyone to there destination. Also, when you started flying I bet it was not with big boys.
