Aeroflot Changes Terminals At JFK

Thu Oct 27, 2005 7:28 am

Starting October 30th, Aeroflot will be operating in and out of Terminal 1 at JFK. They have finally come to realize that terminal 3 is too overcrowded and inconvenient. This is another step toward improving costumer service, by providing service from a more comfortable terminal. Arrival and departure times have changed as well. Arrival into JFK will be at 4 p.m. and departure back to Moscow will be at 6 p.m.

Press release (in Russian) can be found here :

Good Terminal 1 gets more airlines!! This is good news, I am sure the people at T1 are happy (I know a group of them).

Aeroflot777, do you know who will be handling their flights?
It used to be Delta (and they uesd their lounge)
Do you know who's lounge they will be using?
I assume the two angry ladies are still there to stay (Anyone who flies SU out of JFK will know who I'm talking about)

What's with the Exodus out of T3. I know the building is older, but these airlines have been there forever. First China and now Aeroflot. Cathay also left a while ago. Is DL pushing them out due to an expanded schedule? Or are they leaving on their own?

The sooner the better. T3 is such a dump. It is the disgrace of JFK. Wish they would just close it down.

I try not to be opionionated about these, but T3 is really something. I like most airlies, and Delta is no exception. However, the terminal is just awful. Ewwww.

Best,

I must agree, T3 is disgusting. Any terminal at JFK is better than T3.
It has nothing, it's fallen apart.

Hopefully good will go around and Delta will fix it post-BK.

As mentioned above T3 is a dump! There is now better way to decribe it. Delta being my preferred carrier, makes me fly through it constantly, and it never ceases to amaze me how bad the terminal is. Its very overcrowded and uncomfortable. The Song part of the terminal is even worse!! Everyone is crowding around the gate, as there are not enough seats. The entire terminal is dirty and in need of some serious maintenance.

Oh my, don't even get me started on those two ladies. Believe me or not, but I actually yelled at one of them last summer. Seeing them every year at the same place giving everyone so many problems and attitude really got me fed up. I told her to stop. She was quite shocked, but nonetheless it worked, at least while I was sitting in the lounge. Some Russian swearing helped a little. š About the handling, I really have no idea. I would Imagine since they are doing this for admittance into SkyTeam, some SkyTeam carrier will do it for them. But that's just a guess.

When I fly the route, we start by flying up the Eastern Canadian border. Continuing up to Greenland and flying through Greenlands southern border. Then over Norway, Sweden, fly into Russia over St. Petersburg, and then down to Moscow.

P.S. Today is the day they change terminals!!

Because it is a HORRIBLE terminal... overcrowded, bad facilities and strange design! Not to mention it is nearly impossible to walk to the terminal from the parking lots unless you want to run a gauntlet along dingy side streets past speeding cars and other vehicles. Absolutely hate the terminal. Any reason why Aeroflot picked T1 instead of T4?

Cathay Pacific left to go to Terminal 7 to be with British Airways (One World I assume). But what happened to China Air, last time I checked they were still with Delta. Unless you are referring to Air China. The used to fly into Terminal 3, suspended service to JFK for a number of years and then resumed into Terminal 1 the second time around.

Other airlines that have left Terminals 2/3 (Delta) are Air Jamaica, TACA, Ghana Airways, Tarom Romanian, Air Ukraine, Avianca, Aeromexico and TAP Air Portugal. Virgin Atlantic, Sabena and Swiss left when they changed alliances. Malev left, only to return once again. All in all, pretty high turnover.

ahahhaha...
I think everyone fights with the two ladies. My idea is, some day they'll die or retire to Brighton Beach. My mother wound up yelling at them (without swearing) because they assumed someone poorly dressed in a wheelchair wasn't in First Class (they were).

I happen to disagree. T8 (American Airlines International Terminal) is more disgusting than T3. However, T8 is fairly straightforward to find your way around, whereas you need a Global Positioning System to find your way around T2 and T3.

I was under the impression that T1 was pretty much full. I wonder where the extra space is coming from.

While I would disagree with you on that one, the subject is debatable. However, at least T8's replacement is on the horizon - when T3 and T2 are going to be replaced is anyone's guess.
