Air Canada A343

Thu Oct 27, 2005 8:00 am

Would it be possible to have at least one Air Canada A340-300 in YUL each day as a regular flight instead of A330-300?

Because there is no AC A340-300 in YUL there all in YYZ and YVR.

There is no need for one, all of YUL's destinations are within easy reach of the 333 and 763.

It's related to demand. YVR and YYZ have flights to Asia. Those long routes are where the A340s are best utilized. YUL has no flights to Asia, so why use an A340 out of YUL?, Especially when AC has a shortage of lift for long-haul international flights...

Yes but routes like NRT are both done from YYZ/YVR on a B767-300ER, so is this just a capacity issue? Last summer, AC flew a A333 over the Pacific to NRT on one day and it was on an airline magazine's "rare birds," section.

I have been reading for a long time about the shortage of AC long-haul fleets but is it impossible to lease anything? Or, can't they get the long-haul fleet like the B767-300ER from its YYZ-YVR flights and divert that to a new international destination?

There are no T7 but plenty of 340-X (with Jet-A up from a year ago).

I know but YYZ-LHR is often done with a 343 it would be nice if YUL-CDG would be done with a 343.
