Air France Help..

Thu Oct 27, 2005 11:32 pm

I am going to be flying to Miami in Decemeber, I am flying on the 747-400 and the A340-300, which configs does AF use to MIA?

I understand that some of the AF A340's have newer cabins than others, does MIA receive these?

I have also found 3 pics on the databse of the 744's Tempo (coach) cabin seats, which will I receive, and will I have PTV's on the 744 to MIA?

I have also looked at seatguru and it shows two configs for the 744, which one is MIA?

I am going to be flying:
LHR-CDG ~ 321
CDG-MIA ~ 744
MIA-CDG ~ 343
CDG-LHR ~ 318

How are the PTV's on the 343's and 744's, Is there a good range of English speaking stuff?

Is 1h45m's enough to transfer at CDG?

Hello,

The 744 leg will most likely be in the 40J 393Y version. It's already on the route right now.

The A340, hard to tell unless I look it up especially since the A340 flight is only seasonal. There are 4 different cabin versions flying around:

30J 261Y
34J 236Y
36J 236Y
6P 42J 204Y (but there are only 3 left in this version last I checked).

PTV's are standard, nothing extraordinary and there is plenty of programming in English / French. The number of films is about 5 for the "ptv program", usually 2 French films and 3 American movies.

As for connecting time in CDG, 1h45 is a very comfortable time frame. I have done 1h20 and it was more than enough.
Bonjour Chef!

Thanks, I can only seem to find seating configs for:
http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Air.../Air_France_Boeing_747-400_CIO.php
http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Air...ance/Air_France_Boeing_747-400.php
I don't think its any of these is it?

Does the 744 currently on the MIA services have PTV's?

Are all of the 343 configs the same seats in Tempo?

PTV are standard on the 340, but not on the 744 (only 3 are equipped in the main cabin).

So it will depend on the 744 used on your flight.
Avoid 777 with 3-4-3 config in Y ! They are real sardine cans. (AF/KL for example)

Don't you get the new PTVs on the NEV-configured 340s (with on-demand games etc...) and the "old" PTVs on the 3-class 340?

I guess the 744 with PTVs also have the new ones (the a/c are F-GITH/I/J, delivered in 2003/2004)

By the way, what are the different seat configs on the 744? And which routes are they flying?

I compiled : CIO (Carib. Indian Ocean + YUL in summer) w/ 9J and 4??Y w/o PTV in Y except upper deck sold as alizee (kind of upgraded Y). F-GITA/GITF.
2 class 40J/393Y (I think the new GITH/I/J fall in that category)
3 class 17F/58J/327Y w/o PTV.

The PTVs on the A340s, whether it's NEV or not, are all the same.

the 40J 393Y versions are on several 744 a/c now, including ITJ, but -GITH and -GITI were the last 2 delievered in the 3-class configuration. The three-class configured 744s are: 13P 58J 324Y and they have PTV in Y.

So to resume the different 744 configurations are:
13P 58J 324Y
40J 393Y
17J 457Y

Yes, I was referring to the quality of the PTV (size of screen, programming offered), but you are right TGV, to precise that PTVs are not standard across the entire 744 fleet.

I guess I have not been clear, as I used the word "standard" with the meaning "used on all the fleet", while Flpuck6 used it (and before me, I should have read more carefully!) meaning "old PTV model".

To summarize: there are 3 744 with PTV in all Eco seats, and these are the 3 newest planes. This corresponds to the upper left picture in the first post.

On the older planes there is no PTV in Eco if they have the old 3 class config 13P 58J 324Y (we have one of these on the CDG-CCS flights, quite a downgrade from our previous 340!). This corresponds to the lower picture in the first post.

With the 2 class NEV config, (40J 393Y) the upper deck Eco cabin has PTV, but not the main cabin. This corresponds to the upper right picture in the first post.

FlySSC explained in another thread that this was due to wiring and weight problems when refurbishing older aircraft: the wiring was there in the upper cabin (as it was previously a business cabin with PTVs), but not in the main cabin.
