Good news, about time NZ got their first 772!  Smile

When will she go into service?

Will she be operating short flights for crew training or just fly strait into medium/long haul services?

SFO is the first destination right?

BTW - Where does the 744 that operates SFO flights go to now?

Quoting B742 (Reply 1):

Pretty much straight away

Quoting B742 (Reply 1):

Scheduled to fly the tasman a wee bit

Quoting B742 (Reply 1):

Correct

Quoting B742 (Reply 1):

Redeployed to other 744 routes awaiting route expansion plans that can use its capacity.

Like many have asked, when is the first flight to SFO? Heck, I'll make the 100 miles drive just to see her and take some photos.

I just downloaded an update of the star alliance timetable and noted that CHC - LAX frequency is doubling for the southern winter from 1 to 2 per week, still showing as 744s up until at least April. NZ had planned to introduce the 772 on this route hadn't they?

Cool, hopefully it will be slightly late and end up landing live on the 12pm news. How long is it in Nadi? Will other B777 delivery's follow the same route?

Cheers

I know that the aircraft have been delayed so I wasn't sure how much the delay was for ZK-OKB.

Looking forward to see pictures soon from the first arrival in AKL!

Just got back from watching her land.

Quite a crowd had gathered, one group had a scanner so we could listen to the comms and broke out the champagne - a lovely atmosphere. She made a textbook landing, virtually silent as she passed over us towards the threshold of RWY23.

Sweet looking colours for the T7. Hope to see it in MEL sometime instead of the A320 but I doubt it will end up here, unfortunately.

Wow.. Looks more stunning than what I saw in the Domain this morning.. It went right over us.. Too bad I couldn't make it to the airport cos we had no reserves for our cricket game. We didn't need 11 players anyway. Oh well, there's always the one that is actually going to be BOUGHT AND OWNED by Air NZ (ZK-OKB)....
It's all about the destination AND the journey.

Just been on the phone to NZ reservations and if you want a flight soon on the B772ER then you better book the flights quickly as they are filling up fast. From what the NZ lady said the only flights that are free are from december onwards. Since my MEL-AKL flight on October 24th was going to the ZK-OKA but ended up being an A320 I'm now booked on the B772ER in just over one month
