2003 Boeing Engineering Memo....Any Thoughts?

Sun Oct 30, 2005 9:50 am

Today I was reading on MD80.net and came across a disturbing post containing the 2003 Boeing memo. The forum is manned by mostly airmen and is good reading for those interested in the pilot's perspective and job duties.

Being a MD fan, it pained me to read it. I wonder if anyone here has any thoughts about the memo...in particular the future of the 787?

I did a seach on A.net for the memo title and found nothing. The memo is contained in the 5th post down from the top.

It is not Boeing memo.

It states that it was written by a disgruntled Boeing engineers, unhappy that they were now working for ex-McDonnell Douglas managers.

These things come up over and over.

Not all disgruntled people are "whistle blowers." Most are full of hot air and venom, and nothing more.

I'd say that in more recent years since the merger, things have really improved to the point where this sort of bickering and resentment has virtually disappeared. I'd also say that the average Boeing worker just doesn't have time for this sort of nonsense, anyway.

Now, employees from both MD and heritage Boeing are so well integrated, in most areas that I'm aware of, that we honestly do think of ourselves as just one company.

Well....my bad in labelling this thread "Boeing memo". Sorry about that.
Good, I was hoping that time had worked out the problem.

I do think there is a very good point the original writer made when he said that accountants actually run the company in the end. This is not the best format IMO for a company that is producing new and virtually untested in service aircraft. The Bean Counters should not be allowed to diddle with the design department.
