EasyJet:Europe's Leading LCC!Really?

Sun Oct 30, 2005 8:45 pm

Well this is what's written on their website on the home page!

As far as I know(even if I prefer alot more U2 to FR) FR is the major LCCin Europe. Its normal, they have been around for a longer time so have more destinations and thus carry more passengers.

So in what context is U2 Europe's leading LCC? Is it in the context they are the biggest of all LCCs that actually fly to main airports ? (unlike FR) ...
I only see it like that because otherwise I would consider it to be fake publicity because U2 isn't the biggestLCC in Europe !

It's just a promotional thing, just like what FR does. It's merely to attract attention. Like with FR, people will either: a) believe it; b) laugh at it; or c) ignore it.

This thread is just gonna turn into another U2 vs FR fight, which happens all the time.

You can always tell that FR treat their personnel like crap, because everytime you get on one of their flights the F/As aren't smiling. (I'm talking from my experiences with FR)

easyJet, including the Swiss section, has quietly grown to quite a big airline.
They now operate 57 A-319s, 32 73Gs and 17 733s, while Ryanair has 85 738s and 8 732s, so easyJet can claim they operate more airframes.
(these figures change monthly as they roll over their fleets, so don't nail me on + or - one or two).
Ryanair 738s are larger though, so I think (but am not sure) they produce more passenger seat miles, but easyJets revenue per passenger is higher (tickets more expensive) so I think easyJet can claim they make more revenue, a reasonable way in measuring the size of a business.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

17 733s

Your numbers are good, but to clarify, there are currently 23 B733's in the fleet. They are as you know however, being retired from U2 service relatively rapidly being replaced by new A319's.

I wouldn't say thats totally true - I've seen BA crew not smiling, and they are probably some of the best paid cabin crew. Though FR crew do work very hard, and are not the best paid.

My last two FR flights were a couple of weeks ago, and on both flights the cabin crew were exceptionally cheerful and friendly. I'm guessing they were new. (Cynical I know, but probably true).

Or maybe FR cabin crews don't smile when they fly to ABZ.
I wouldn't be suprised.:D

I wasn't saying that all FR F/As don't smile just all the ones that I've seen.

Believe me, they are definitely not... this might be true for longhaul crew but both FR and U2 cabin crew are better paid... Of course they fly more but I would rather fly more and have more many then not have many and lot of free time

I had opportunity to talk to lot of FR cabin crew as I meet them on the bus on my way to crew room... mostly (95%) are really unhappy with working conditions... but when you ask them why they don't leave, they can't come with a good answer... try smiling all day if you don't get any food, any water, any tea or coffee... and after you've done 40 sectors and it's only 15th.
