US-Europe F/J Yields

Tue Nov 01, 2005 5:29 am

Do the US-Europe F/J yields get as trashed in the off season as the Y yields do?

Not at all - tourists rarely fly F and J. But while people are taking holidays, they're not travelling on biz. Business travel is slack in the northern summer (June - September). In fact, business is slack in the northern summer. Picks up again in September when everyone gets back to work after taking the summer off.

It seems that the only reason AA still flies to europe in the fall is for their J sales. My parents fly non-rev, mom worked for TW.
Jetnet still shows outstanding loads from JFK-CDG/BRU/ZRH in J. Their Y loads are under 40%, even for some weekend flights!

Oh man, I'm surprised AA haven't done the all J-class narrowbody a la Private Air's 737NGs and ACJs doing the Lufthansa and Swiss Air Lines trans-atlantic stuff. AA fly a 777 every night from Raleigh to LGW with about 12 people in the back and every J and F class seat taken by employees of a drug company who basically pay AA to operate the flight. Maybe there's a lot of COMAT or other freight that justifies the heavy metal. United have started doing all J class 757s from NY to LA, right? AA should do that on some of their trans-atlantic, especially bloody Raleigh.
