Seems like N627US has ended its flying days after its nosegear broke at Guam a few weeks ago. I guess after temporary repairs have been done it will be flown at low altitude to Marana.

And what is your source for this information? Or is this just your opinion? You guess that it will be flown out?

It is just my guess, yes. This has been done with other aging aircraft before which were found surplus. One recent example: Iran Air´s 747SP which had the same mishap (as N627US at Guam) at Beijing last year (or was it already in 2003?). It was flown back to Tehran to serve as spares aircraft.
The rumour that N627US might become an artificial reef sounds pretty weird to me.
I´m sure N627US is one of the 747s NWA rejects the lease on though! Isn´t ship 627 the oldest 747 NWA had left? I´ve seen no pictures of N624US (which is also in the latest colours) after early this year. All other NWA 742s older than N627US are retired or parked for sure.

No. If a new livery is removed from an airplane it always means something. Especially if the aircraft is old and damaged. My intention was just to gather info here. Maybe I should not have forgotten the questionmark. Sorry for that.

Well why else would Northwest have removed colours and logos? It seems pretty likely. Come on, this is a discussion forum and one of the more interesting topics to read today, why is it necessary so rude to someone who brings this up.

Commonly done on accident aircraft to avoid negative publicity for the carrier, even when the carrier intends to return the aircraft to service.

First of all, the suggestion of permanent WFU is just speculation. Perhaps perm WFU may happen if 1) the damage within the airframe is more serious and costly that it appears, and 2) the value of the a/c due to age, cycles, hours and closeness to next major check (and it's cost) may make retirement the financially best option.
Still, it is sad to see what was a good and servicable a/c have to be retired.

Whatever, the fact that all same-aged sisterships have been parked over the last two years (N622US, 625, 626, 628, 641, 642 for example,the status of 623 and 624 is unclear, there are no photos of them flying since July) does not make it likely N627US will be put back in operation. Sad as it is, don´t misunderstand me, I would wish this beautiful bird could fly some time longer.

That would be surely an awesome diving spot! Are there more occasions of aircraft turned into artificial reefs?

What a remarkably rude little man you are. The guy apologized for omitting the question mark. English is most likely not his first language. There's no need to be so high and mighty.

For all that if she has been painted in the new C/S it would suggest that she has just had a heavy check. Who knows what sort of structural damage might have been done by the gearless landing though?

Vunz,I read about an ex-AC 732 being put in Victoria Harbor between SEA and YVR. I think there are a few 727-100's in the Bahamas somewhere.
