Aeropostal To Europe?

Thu Nov 03, 2005 4:48 am

On 1st Nov the codeshare from Aeropostal and Air Europa was terminated.
Aeropostal, as still largest Venezuelan airline has no more flights to Europe to offer since yesterday.
Apart of that they are facing to loose the traffic rights to Spain in case they don't use them. I am no expert on that, but I guess that would be after 3 or 6 months.
So what are the alternatives ? We were already speculating about other codeshare opportunities here. But in fact, the only airline that would work is Iberia.
But what is the sense in codesharing with Iberia ? What is the sense to Iberia codesharing with Aeropostal ? I would say: none in both cases ?
Or am I wrong ?
So in my opinion Aeropostal is in an interesting situation: or they do something by themselves, or they leave the field to Conviasa if they loose their traffic rights.

But another operation to MAD ?

Let's try to speculate a bit here....

Aeropostal gets a 763, let us leave the ETOPS etc. problems apart, S3 showed us how to solve them.

What could/should they fly ? I would like to hear some comments....

I think CCS-AMS would do great, since KLM droped CCS two years ago and there definitely IS enough demand to fill a 763. Also, CCS-LHR would work great.
You are right, there´s no point in starting a new CCS-MAD, there are SOOOO many of them already, its even getting boring.
Well, just my opinion,

Just wait for LAN to create LAN Venezuela.Apparently they have this hobby of creating airlines everywhere. In that case you can be sure that they will connect CCS with MADBig grin  Sad Sad but true...

Maybe Aeropostal should try with other European carriers like AF,LH or TP.

Chigüire,

As far as I can tell, Aeropostal can forget about Europe for a very long time.. the problem is in fact the airline's owner and you KNOW that !

I would find it very, but very difficult to see VH seriously teaming up with any other airline with the kind of very favourable agreement Aeropostal had with Air Europa.

As to your question on landing rights, they are not officially lost until the Venezuelan Government issues a statement to the contrary. Remember flights to Europe from Venezuela are all bilateral, no open skies policy there.

Greetings from Cancun !

Chiguire,

que mas, pana?
I think the point in codesharing is supposedly the internal connections that each of the airlines has....for example, I would say that VH has most of the Venezuelan territory pretty well covered and so does IB in Europe (using them as the example). So if anyone coming from MAD wants to go say, to BLA, they can codeshare through VH, offering some kind of deal. Sort of what VH has in place today with passengers that are flying to MIA from CCS but have to fly in from BLA,BQM or PMV. VH charges nothing for the trip to CCS, the customer only pays for CCS-MIA-CCS. Codesharing is the only way to go for VH, I really don't expect to see them anywhere in Europe anytime soon.
By the way, there's a rumor about Avior doing CCS-FLL.....with what equipment I have NO idea.
Just my 2 cents...

Please, let's call things by its full name. "LAN venezuela NOT part of Oneworld"
We have the same thinking  Smile

Yes yes yes, let's do it.... The could fly their own metal to BCN where Inter-Continental traffic is growing fast these days.... MAD is too crowded

But in order to offer this you don't need a codeshare. If fact Iberia, Alitalia and all other European carrier already do have a SPA (Special prorate agreement) enabling them to issue the VH and R7 legs on their documents, getting invoiced a special contract fare.
So this is not the big deal that IB or UX need, they have it (in most cases R7 is cheaper anyway).

I would say, if you want to see a reason why IB should make a deal with VH, is that they want to control them in a certain way, preventing that someone else does. And - avoiding them to fly MAD by themselves !

rotfl  sure, you are right, the owner is a problem.
But I would not say that this means that he is NOT going to do that. It is only hard to predict WHAT he will do next. And in this case I would not generally say that flying to Europe is no option for him at all.

I totally agree with this comment. I think that if an airline starts operations to LHR and AMS, they'll boost the market. And it wont be necessary to fly daily to these routes, but at least twice a week services. These couple of routes have been abandoned by BA and KL, and a direct flight right now wouldn't hurt...

Whaaat!!! Are you serious! That would be very nice, but I don't think the 732 they have can make it! We might be seeing some new aircrafts on Avior's livery very soon!

Yes, actually, when I flew MXP-CCS on AZ, there were loads of Italians with Aeropostal tickets to fly to PMV, so I guess they do have contracts with these airlines.

Avior would have to lease something to fly that route, as their 732's are Venezuelan registered....we shall see. My wife works for them so let's see what comes out.

It would be marvelous to see a Venezuelan aircraft again here in AMS. And it would be great to have the passengers continue their journey with KLM. Or even have KL be their agent. I don't get to speak my Spanish so very often since KL dropped CCS and EZE  Wink But very wishful thinking, I'd say.

I think a good steep for VH would be to open flights to FRA or at least code-share on LH flights.

That will be great. See VH flying to MAD. Another possible destination may be AMS as substitute of KL.

I think so too. Let me tell you, it becomes easier when you have to move completely from one city to another.
