I checked out the first fare, LGA-YUL...this is what i find(all in usd):

November 6th: $442
January 31st: $220.10

I see a fare difference anywhere from $111.10 to $333.00

---------

So I checked the HNL-YYZ fares:

November 6th: $795.71
January 31st: $371.00

I see a fare difference anywhere from $90-$506.71.

Keep in mind the fares that I found were one-way regular (non sale fares) on the 6th of November and the 31st of January. Those prices were also prior to tax. I definately see a sale.

Hm. Well, if you go look at Orbitz for YYC-SLC, DL's direct flights are cheaper than the other carrier's flights where you have to connect. Oh, and a $300 fare is not that bad. Face it, fuel is expensive, and we're finally seeing that burden passed on to the consumer.

Not all airlines can hide behind fuel hedges.  duck  j/k.  Wink

That 800 mile trip costs Delta (Technically SkyWest) about $100 a seat. What were you expecting? Travel at cost???

hey no but i was judging in comparison to other fares... no doubt the industry is in trouble, no need to poke fun. thanks for the useful comment. anyways, i understand they need that much money to make any money, but at the same time i do not think that is very low in the travelling public eyes - and i am not sure how far issuing a press release about it will help.

the HNL prices seem pretty reasonable, and i think i sorta miscommunicated waht i was trying to say. i understand that these are reasonable prices to ask for the service provided, but when there are airlines like AirTran, Spirit, etc.. advertising very very low prices, i was wondering as to how much benefit could come from advertising prices that to the public seem as not that low.

Consider yourself extremely lucky that you don't live in Bermuda, where all fares out of here are outrageous. Full fare on DL from BDA-BOS is currently over $800(US). I'm flying up to Boston for Thanksgiving and managed to get a 'deal' for my two seats at $437 each. (That's taxes included) Imagine the fun we have trying to fly to the UK!!!! Only BA flies direct from BDA-LGW, so unless you want to spend many extra hours in travel time when you have limited vacation time, BA has a captive audience.

At $0.15 CASM 800 miles trip would cost Delta $120 per seat. 15 cents is very high but with the regional jets I heard is not impossible. I don't know what/how Delta pays SkyWest.

P.S. There are only two seats left for the Nov 10 YYC - SLC. Apparently the price is acceptable.

In every one of the city pairs you cited above DL is the cheapest carrier or equal to the others. Also, AirTran and Spirit fly none of those routes and if they did, their fares would probably be the same as DL's. I really don't see you proving your point at all.

People bitch about how they want more amenities, IFE, food, more space etc. And they've proven time and time again they won't pay for it.

Look at AA's MRTC, miserable failure because AA discovered people actually won't pay for more amenities, but then they just bitch when they don't have them. AA's premise for MRTC was a valid one, it just didn't work out.

It's a no win situation.

Uh, what turnip truck you fall off of? 15cents is a VERY cheap seat mile.
