KLM To Start AMS-BLL Service

Thu Nov 03, 2005 10:01 pm

After Sterling has announced that they aren't ready to make a agreement with KLM on the AMS - BLL route, KLM has decided to operate that route themselves 3 times dailly with a Fokker 70.
They will start operate the route themselves in March 06.
I wonder if Sterling are planning to pull PAR and LON out as well sometimes in the near future.

And what will Sterling do? Will they continue to fly to AMS? Most of the traffic between AMS-BLL-AMS are passengers coming from or continuing on KL/NW and CI/BR/MH. Too bad Maersk Air is gone.. They offered VERY reliable service, almost no cancellations/delays. I guess the frequent AMS-BLL passenger will suffer as from March 06 and has to deal with many delays and cancellations because the KLM Cityhopper Fokker fleet is not very reliable; actually there is not one day that all KLC flights are operating as scheduled.

I know it's a bit silly, but I will answer my own question. After posting my reply I decided to look at Sterling's website to find the answer and here it is for those who are interested:

As from March 06 Sterling will fly non stop from AMS to OSL/CPH/ARN and BLL.
OSL/CPH/ARN 2 times a day from mo-fr; BLL 3 daily flights. Service on sa/su limited.

CO currently codeshares with Maersk (Sterling) for AMS-BLL. I wonder if they'll switch to KL. Maybe future sharing with Maersk out of Copenhagen will be important enough to keep them with Maersk at AMS.

I think so. CO and KL are Skyteam partners. Maersk is/was NOT a skyteam airline. Maersk Air doesn't actually exist anymore. Their a/c still have the DM livery but with NB titles.

They don't even know them selves yet. Its just a big joke right now. They really don't have planned anything. The new owners has totally screwed up both Sterling and Maersk Air. They don't have anything under control at all.

And that is a damn shame. I miss them already.  Sad
