Maximum Pax Allowed In Aircrafts

Fri Nov 04, 2005 2:23 am

I was trying to get a list of the maximum number of passenger you can legally squeeze into each typo of aircraft.

On the 380, they will be testing it (evac tests) with 850+ pax... and that will be the maximum for that aircraft (max certification).

What about for other aicraft types? Namelly the 744... but also for the other big boys (777, 340, etc...).

I tried to look for this in google, but couldn't find the official numbers.

Thank you in advance!  Smile

The max capacity for the 744 is 660, 550 for the 773, 440 for the 772, 379 for both the A342 and A343 (exit limitations limit the A343). The strange thing is, that at least in the US, because of exit limitations, the A346 is limited to 379 passengers. The A345 is exit limited to 375.

I was surprised to see the 379 pax limitation for the 343... is it just for the US? I ask this because I'm almost sure some charter airlines configure their 333's with more than 400 pax! And the cabin of the 333 is identical to that of the 343...

I'm also surprised to see those limitation on the 345/346... maybe they only apply in the US (american regulators really hate airbus I suppose...), because airbus herself says that the 346 can carry more than 400 pax(419) in a 2 class config.

PS: Has any airlines ever configured a 747(any version) with 600 or more seats?

It has nothing to do with them "hating Airbus". Either there are exit concerns or they need to update the TCDS

I don't know, but there are ones with around 590 seats flying right now

But why didn't airbus consider that? And, given A proposes 419 seats in their standart (non high density) configs, they must be considering a higher max number of seats. Probably that only aplies in the us...

Do you happen to know of any such 747-200 or 747-300 with ~ 590 seats that are U.S. registered, airworthy & might be available for charter end of next year for a few months?
