Egyptair 330 On CAI-BRU

Fri Nov 04, 2005 9:48 pm

I just noticed (with ACARSD) that Egyptair is using
Airbus 330 on its flight 725 (CAI-BRU) today. Is it usual?

When I was at BRU a few years' ago, SU had a 743 there operating its CAI flight.

Starting this winter schedule, EgyptAir's flights on Friday and Sunday have been changed from the usual A320 or A300 to a A330-200. Also, an additional flight on Tuesday was introduced, operated by A321.

Good to see more widebodies in BRU, and now a few 777.

Indeed Egyptair have increased flights and capacity on the route by adding an A321 flight every Tuesday.

As I posted on another forum:

During summer 2005 the airline had 2x weekly flights:
MS725/726 CAI-BRU-CAI every Friday (A320)
MS743/744 CAI-LXR-BRU-LXR-CAI every Sunday (A320 and AB6)

Winter 2005/2006 the airline will operate 3x weekly flights:
MS725/726 CAI-BRU-CAI every Tuesday (A321) and Friday (A330-200)
MS743/744 LXR-BRU-LXR every Sunday (A330-200)

TUI Belgium will add a third weekly BRU-CAI flight this week using a B738 and last week Thomas Cook started a weekly BRU-CAI-LXR-BRU A320 flight every Thursday.

In addition TUI Airlines will start charter flights to Marsa Metruh next summer (it's 6th destination in Egypt after Cairo, Luxor, Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada and Alexandria)

Quite a nice increase in the market.

Have there ever been airlines operating T7's into BRU?
I've worked there for a year in 2001 and never saw a single one!
What could be potential future T7 operators to BRU?
Maybe EK some day,or Etihad if the BRU-YYZ is doing good?

Is Cairo a popular winter destination for tourists? How hot is it in Cairo during winter? Is Alexandria a popular destination too?

Cairo is a year round destination but temperatures are more comfortable during the winter months. I just came back from Cairo today and it was a sunny 23°C with blue skies. In December/January it gets cooler but many tourists prefer it to the hotter, humid summer months.

Alexandria is very popular with domestic and international holidaymakers during the summer when the weather is perfect. During the winter months it's quite chilly with far less visitors, if any.

Yes. EgyptAir flew them to BRU on the Sunday flight every once in a while a few years ago, and United used the 777 in 1996/1997 or thereabouts on the Newark flight via LHR. I remember flying a UA 777 from LHR to BRU back in 1996.
