Yes. As I remember it, it had to do both with a huge seasonal drop-off in demand, bankruptcy, and the 767-300 shortage earlier in the year. Nonetheless, the route will be returning this December.

Yep, sir. They operate the route daily with 763s.

They withdrew both routes in favour of IAD-EZE. A very bad move in my opinion, since MIA has been a cashcow route for ages, closely followed by JFK. Now UA lost 7 weekly flights to Argentina, which were reallocated by the DoT to Continental, due to start EWR-IAH-EZE on December 1st.

About ORD-EZE, I can confirm it should be back on December 15th.

Cash cow for whom? Certainly not UA.

The Miami mini hub had consistently lost money for United for years. At the end the carrier was forced to abandon the hub and crew base.

As far as JFK, somewhat similar. The move of the EZE and GRU flights to IAD helped quite a bit in their performance as they were able to gain connectivity feed at IAD. United was and continues to be weak in the NY market and could not support the South America flights with solely NY O&D traffic.

Agree. MIA was never a money-maker for UA, and they withdrew their operations from there, not only EZE but other destinations as well such as GRU. IAD or ORD is far more efficient hub for UA.

WRT to 767-300ER 'MZ' aircraft... yes.

The 744 fleet is worn pretty thin, however.
