Help With AirTran Tpa-Atl-Ind

Tue Nov 08, 2005 5:37 am

Hey hey guys how is everyone doing today

So I am in the highschool Marching Band and I we are flying to Indy for Grand Nationals its like the Shit of all marching competitions. Anways theres about 300 people going we are takeing 2 flights

Tpa-Atl-Indy and the second is Tpa-Ind both are early morning flights. But how do I know if they are a actual route or chartered. We chartered a Miami air flight to SFO last year for the Rosbe Bowl flight Tpa-SFO LAX-TPA

INteresting about the charter flight for the rose bowl trip was the fact that there were 2 planes one for the band and one for the equipment The pilot was telling me one 737 couldnt take the weighht of the instruments baggage for 2 weeks and a full flight so they did passengers and baggage and then all instruments on the other.

So I cant seem to get flight numbers from the band and the times change constantly makeing me think its chartered

So how much does it cost to charter 2 planes to and from tpa to Ind.

Will us crazy band kids be mixed with passengers??

airtran.com wont help and Tampa's airport isnt much help

oo and we leave thursday or friday not really sure..

any help would be apperciated thanks

Well your TPA-ATL-IND flight definitely is not chartered because they would not have a stopover on a charter flight (unless range was an issue, but its not). From this I would expect that you are on regularly scheduled flights. However I hate to break it to you, but it takes more than two 717s to transport 300 people since they only have a capacity of 117. You are obviously on more than just those two flights if all 300 people are flying. And if so, you might have one chartered plane and the rest of you could be on regularly scheduled flights.

I remember the days of concert band competitions (150 people in two bands) from when I was in high school to BWI and ORD. They put us on two different flights for each trip. The first trip was on NW (SEA-DTW-BWI) and they scattered us on the plane in mostly middle seats (yuck!). The second trip was UA on SEA-ORD and they gave us the back half of economy and stuck us in a block.

If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

300 of you? You guys are probably split up over most TPA-ATL and ATL-IND flights for the day. You would nearly fill up 3 of the 717's and there are only 5 daily flights from ATL to IND. If this arrangement is the case just hope for good weather. BTW what date are you flying up?
Indy = Indianapolis and not Independence Air

all chaperones and parents are on flights throught the day some going throught DL to ATL then AirTran to IND.

and for all you that know the area well awards for Grand Nats are at the Pan AM Plaza for fireworks and Semi Finals Draw. is this have anything to do with the Pan Am Airlines

ah... so the team is split up over the two flights and the parents and chaperones basically fend for themselves with the remaining seats on all the possible flight combinations between TPA and IND. right?

Pan Am Plaza is for the Pan Am games and not the airline.

BTW.... save a little time while you are here. You can go ice skating at the plaza.
