Civil Airliner Production Totals?

Thu Nov 10, 2005 1:43 am

I'm writing a paper about the WTO case concerning Boeing and Airbus.

I was just wondering in what year did Airbus first overtake Boeing in terms of global sales?

Thanks

Airbus has never over taken Boeing in global sales.. and most likely never will. This is only due to the fact that Boeing has been making planes for nearly 40 years longer then Airbus has been around.

History to date delivery numbers:

Airbus.....4056
Boeing...11796 (4930 Boeing 737's...)

These are also 'jet age' numbers and Boeing has a long and historic line of propeller age commercial transport.

You're quite right EMBQA.

What I was getting after was total sales within one fiscal year.

Does anyone know the year?

In terms of money I believe it was 2002 or 2003 that Airbus made more money than Boeing did.

Again, Airbus has not over taken Boeing here either. Airbus may have had a better sales year here and there, but Boeing is a huge corporation stretching out far in the aerospace field. I also don't think Airbus releases it's figures as its a privatized corporation. As far as this year, Boeing is the learder of the pack for sales right now.....So are you talking airframes or revenue...??

By the way, two great places to start...
