Different Airlines With Similar Logos

Thu Nov 10, 2005 3:47 pm

Looking at pictures, I realized that the German airline Eurowings 's logo was very similar to the original Air Inter 's logo in 70s ...

And Continental still owns 49% of Copa, hence the blaring similarities.

BA and Emirates? At a distance and with my slight colour blindness, I think they look the same? Anybody else think the same or am I going mad?

You are kidding, all Swiss airliners have the Swiss flag as colours on the fin (with the exception of easyJet Switzerland which is not really a Swiss airline).

As I recall, DinAir did want red/blue like Crossair, but Mr Suiter said NO.

Its was the same desigher and same paint shop.

It was back in the mid-nineties when this happened.

Dinar was an airline from Argentina.
The similitude on the livery is because they use to lease aircrafts from Crossair.
Alse the maintenance was made by Crossair in ZRH.
It was a popular airline, they leased for seasonal flights to Brazil and the Caribbean some 757 and A310.But after the crisis of 2001 in Argentina,Dinar ceased operations.

This is quite logical they have a similar logo as they are all related, belonging to the same group ...

Its funny you mention Fly Baboo logo. At first I wondered what it meant. Then I read on some magazine that Julian Cook, the owner of the airline once went to India and liked a lot the word Baboo which is the name given to some sort of chief (tribe? family kind of a maharaja...perhaps some Indan a.netter could explain better). He was inspired by the mascot of Air India and thus decided to have as a logo, the turban of the baboo. If you look well its a turban

WELL SAID

By the way for airlines with such similar logos or liveries....can't they be sued for copying?

That was true, until the late 80s (I think) when Morris Sutor of Crossair convinced the authorities to change the rule so he could have his logo of the Swiss flag superimposed on the EU flag. Beginning of the end ...

If I recall correctly, Canada 3000 was initially going to be owned / controlled by Air 2000 (was it to be called Air 3000?) but that was shot down due to foreign owneship rules. But the similarity stems from that I imagine.
