I wonder in how far the cancellation of this service was really related to the status of the runway at LOS. For a week or two now, KL
has been facing serious operational irregularities with its MD11 fleet, with multiple DXB
services cancelled, and an overnight delay on the AMS
service on at least two occasions because no airframe was available for its 11pm departure.
I have a hunch that the purported runway issues at LOS, no matter how serious, might be a welcome excuse for KL
to do some catching up on its pending MD11 issues. Isn't it strange that only KL
seems to have issues, whereas all other competitors, including partner AF
, apparently don't see the need to cancel services for this reason?
also seemed to be heading into trouble with its B772 operations yesterday, with at least 4 services (DEL, MNL
, NBO, JFK) being delayed for 2-4 hours.
