Which Airline Has Most Delays?

Sun Nov 13, 2005 1:53 am

During waiting for my mother (she's booked on OS826, see also this topic, I was wondering about what would be the airline with most delays in the E.U.? Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I thought that changes often.

Greetings,
Martin

KL performance from July - September 2005

Longhaul ontime arrivals 82% (80,9% 2004)
Longhaul ontime departures 74,8%

Shorthaul ontime arrivals 85,1% (79,5% 2004)
Shorthaul ontime departures 79,8% (75,1% 2004)

KL has a zero telorance policy, meaning that a 1 minute delay is counted as a delayed flight, whereas a lot of airlines use a 5 minute tolerance for shorthaul flights and a 15 minute tolerance for longhaul flights.

Of all scheduled longhaul flights, 99,6% was actually flown, for shorthaul 99,1%.

IMO KL has some major issues for shorthaul flights with their KLM Cityhopper Fokker 50/70/100 operations. Everyday flights are either delayed or cancelled due to mx. I really don't understand that KL management keeps saying that they are so satisfied with the Fokker a/c.

Is this number good or not comparing to other airlines? Really working for KLM in Aruba I can tell you that we get constant pressure from KLM Control in AMS about on-time departures. If for any reason the plane isn't in the air at the STD, they call and want to know why blah blah blah.

Now That's advertisement!  biggrin
Ryanair also has a tendency to be consistently delayed (problems with baggage, disorganized boarding procedures), but it is in fact a low cost airline. I however don't think it's worthy of it's slogan "The on time airline" !

Always had major delays when flying with monarch.
I have lost track of how many times I have sat for hours at Airports with food and drinks vouchers! Have'nt been with them recently so don't know if they have improved their timekeeping.

Since when did Northwest become an E.U. airline? Or have I misunderstook the question?

That's what I get for reading the topic and not the initial post within it.

It could also be read of all airlines that operate into and therefore out of the EU as well. Was just the way I understood the question.
