Former AA Hubs

Did San Diego used to be an American Airlines hub? I know they backed out of RDU and Nashville in the early nineties. How many hubs did they have back then?

No, you are probably thinking of San Jose.

At the peak, in the late 1980s and early 1990s, AA maintained official hubs (not including huge stations or connecting centers like LAX, JFK, etc.) in:

-Dallas/Fort Worth
-Chicago O'Hare
-San Juan
-San Jose

As you can probably guess, seven major hubs is way too many for any carrier in the United States, so San Jose was closed in 1993 (IIRC), Nashville was axed in 1995, with Raleigh/Durham cut in 1996.
