777-300ER/777-200LR - Which Airlines?

Mon Nov 14, 2005 9:48 am

Of course I have done some research on this forum and on other sites, I just wanted to make sure I've pieced the info together correctly.

My understanding of deliveries and orders of the 777-300ER is as follows:

Current operators of 777-300ER:

Air France
ANA
Emirates
Etihad
EVA
JAL

Orders for 777-300ER:

Air Canada (status?)
Air India (pending)
ILFC (for which airline?)
Jet Airways (pending)
Qantas (status?)
Qatar (status?)
Singapore Airlines (confirmed)

Orders for 777-200LR:

EVA
PIA
Qatar
Air India (pending)

I believed AC to order a mix of 772LR and 773ER

Potential 777LR operators:
- QF
- EK
- SQ

Maybe someone here can show a side-by-side orders comparison between A346 vs 773ER and A345 vs 772LR.

Cheers

Last I checked, PIA had ordered the 773ER as well as the 772ER and 772LR

Quoting Mozart (Thread starter):

Since when did Etihad take delivery of the 777-300ER? They ordered them late last year.

ILFC (for which airline?)
Jet Airways (pending)
Qantas (status?)
Qatar (status?)

Jet Airways is confirmed. Qantas has not chosen between the 777 or A340 yet. Air Canada is confirmed, just not in the order books. PIA ordered some.

SQ is more than likely to order some. And Air Canada will too. Air India will most likely take all -300ERs like Jet Airways did.

Unlikely, the only airline in the world that is seating 500+ on a 773ER is ANA on Domestic runs in place of their 747D's

Sorry to be picky, but NH's 773s that run domestic aren't 773ER but regular 773. They have 525 pax to be exact. It's also interesting to note that NH operate the lowest-density and highest-density 773s. NH's 773ERs are configured for only 269 pax.

Etihad (EY) should get their first 777-300ER anyday now and it's been rumored that they are very interested in the -200LR as well. Perhaps an announcement at the Dubai Air Show next week ?

British Airways

- they won't be able to get their hands on substantial numbers of A380's before .. 2014?

- they don't want to be a launch customer of a new aircraft : so no 744adv?

- new Mesa / Asia cabin specs will force them to lower seatcounts

- the market is growing and will likely grow on for some time at 5% (/) per year.

- additional passenger 747-400 don't seem to likely, nobody orders them these days

so ....

the aircraft that

- has proven low seat mile costs
- fits in their current fleet
- has the real estate to house the premium cabins & total seats
- can be delivered starting 2006-07

seems to be the 777-300ER

777-300ER is certainly a good fit for BA. Would expect that within 5 years.

Would think fuel prices may drive CX to consider the 300ER or the 200LR in the future, despite the 4 engine long-haul philosophy they have stuck to.
