Sorry in French.........

The troubled airline belonging to an Egyptian businessman failed for bankrupcy.
Air Horizons has found its roots in Euralair when this later was in troubled.
Question ; What will be the future of Star Airline , also managed by this man , since Canadians sold him their shares ?
The saga of the bankrupcy French airlines continues...........
Only Air France and Corsair are strong.

How ist Star Airlines doing anyway? You hardly hear anything about French charter airlines here in Germany, although it is a very intersting topic. Is Star member of a large travel conglomerate like Corsair, which belongs to TUI? In this case, their future should be safe for a while, since vertically integrated airlines are usually protected by their mother companies. It is the small thrid-party airlines, which usually get into trouble, because they are chiefly hired for their excess capacity during summer and fly around empty during winter.

No Star doesn't belong to a large conglomerate. It's as you said a third party airline. They have stopped the venture with Air Transat of Canada , and now they are alone.Do not really know how their health is.Rumour is they will lease an A310 for the winter time.
France is a difficult market , as competition is very low, and it's not a liberal market.
How will Air Austral and Air Caraibes be able to survive when the subsidies will be finished ? The day when the commission of Brussels will put an eye in both these airlines files , surely they will have to find how to survive..........
I suspect Corsair to make pressure on this commission to do so.
Another important thing in the French airlines market , is contrary to Germans , English , Scandinavians , French do not travel a lot , especially for the long haul destinations. They prefer to go in the Mediterranean countries such as Morocco and Tunisia.
The long haul charter market in France is not very large , except Martinique , Guadeloupe and Reunion.
..........and what to say of the LCC market in France ?NO French LCC !!!!!!!...........only Easyjet !!!!!!!
Right we have the "TGV" speed train , but i am sure some more LCCs will be viable in this country.Easyjet is very happy of the French market...........and make many profits there.

France seems like to be the same as the Netherlands: the KLM Group (KLM, Transavia and Martinair) always seems to succeed to push away competitors off the Dutch market...

I live close to Montpellier which used to have 1,8 Million Passengers in 2000.
In 2004,MPL made a miserable 1,3 Million passengers...
The local airline,Air Littoral was deliberately killed by it's managing Director ,Marc Dufour,(who now is in politics...).
Anything that comes even close to competition to Air France is doomed to dissapear in France.Officials will find hundred reasons why there is not room for another ailine in the Lowcost sector( TGV,people travel less, money, bad economy...) but nobody will stand up and say- yes-I see a market for competition in France.Banks will receive instructions not to finance competition ...
Logical markets to Maghreb-countries are closed for Low-Costs ,since Air France controls indirectly Air Algeri,Tunisair and RAM though code-share agreements and "gentlemen agreements" to prohibit flights to those countries by non-Air France afiliated units.

Rumour is they will lease an A310 for the winter time.

It's not a rumour, it's already flying and we've received it at CDG a couple of times.

Star doesn't seem to be doing too bad as they regularly fly for Club Med.
