UPS And The 747-800

Wed Nov 16, 2005 9:24 am

A friend of mine is a pilot at UPS. He says that he thinks that UPS will never take delivery of their A380's and that they will eventually buy the 747 800 (or 747 400 - Im not sure) because they will be able to use the engines from their ETOPS 767's after they are too old to be ETOPS certified. He claims that it will save UPS a lot of money.

My question - is this even possible or is he full of it??

Cheers

most likely full of it.... UPS is bound contractually to buy Airbus planes. They are better off with the A380F than more of the A300F.

Either way, UPS will be getting more Airbus jets in their fleet.
Airbus or Boeing - it's all good to me!

My only question is whether they will convert their order for the 744F to the 748F now that it's launched.

That would mean 747-400F because CF6s are only available on the -400F, not the -800F.
