TSA Entrance Exam?

Fri Nov 18, 2005 12:36 pm

Hello All,

I've been scheduled to take the TSA Entrance Exam that is 3 hrs long.. Some people have told me it is pretty hard. Does anyone know exactly how hard it is, and what kind of questions they ask? Is it multiple choice/fill in the blank?

Any info would be appreciated...

Wow. You mean those people not only took a test, but passed it too?

A lot of the TSA people (in the early days) were accepted despite the fact that they failed the test, which was an embarassment that was widely mentioned in the press.

I took this test back in November and failed. It's fairly difficult. If I remember correctly, there is a 200-something question psychological test, a cognitive (matching of geometric figures) test, a screening test (where they give you items to search for) and a vocabulary test. They don't tell you what is needed to pass, whether you were right or wrong on each individual question, or even what your score is, except that you passed or you failed.

It's all computerized, so don't even bother bringing a pencil and paper into the test room...you won't need them.

Go to your local hospital that has a maternity ward and ask for a couple of the discarded foreskins taken from circumcisions. Put those on your head and you'll be assured of a job with the TSA as they are 99.9% D*CKHEADS!

Also, tell them that you have experience giving generous cavity searches for no good reason. That'll impress 'em too!

Poor guy came here asking for help, not "What does everyone think about the TSA?" Nobody knows his reason for wanting to join the TSA and he shouldn't be judged without knowing the whole story.

I am thinking that if you cannot offer any help, it may be a better idea to keep your negative comments to yourself. [/rant]

I highly doubt that any of the comments made by myself and others (and, obviously, I can only speak for myself) were directed at BR715-A1-30 specifically. You have to understand the TSA is a joke amongst most of the aviation community. I understand any persons' desire for gainful employment and wouldn't berate that however, the TSA is a punchline and a subject all in the same acronym. In other words, lighten up and enjoy the humor.

With all the bad press and horror stories out there about the TSA, the fact that they have a 3 hour+ exam that is that difficult to pass is, in and of itself, laughable, expecially in light of most of their employees! Think about it, when was the last time this country's government got ANYTHING right?

Do you have a huge inferiority complex and enjoy harassing people? Answer yes- you are starting to catch on.

aside from w's war on Iraq that is.

I find it absolutely flippin' amazing the TSA morons have to actually PASS a test that is 3 HOURS long!?!?!  laughing  I was sure all the idiots had to do was be able to walk upright and sign an "X" on the dotted line.

I have never seen more incompetence in a single area in my life than any TSA Screening Point has . . . .

They are without a doubt, the most useless Govt agency I can think of . . . an utter waste of taxpayer money. Collectively they have the common sense of my dead Beagle.

BR715, of course, I mean no offense to you personally - and I'll apologize to you in advance right now - you're going to see me constantly and with great vigor destroy the TSA every time I get a chance. So, nothing personal . . . now or in the future.

ANC-the problem was, in the early days of their existence, the TSA was so short-staffed that they would hire people that DID fail the test...fortunately, somebody caught on, and the practice was stopped.

Besides, as I alluded to earlier, nobody is even sure whether you have to score ABOVE a certain number on the test, or BELOW that number, in order to pass.

Well, since it's been 4 years plus since 9/11 and the advent of the useless entity that is the TSA . . . don't you think some weeding out of the more serious idiots is in order?

Perhaps they ought to re-test the morons that failed the first, second - perhaps third - time. Hell, I get fired tomorrow if I can't qualify with my duty weapon? Can't we get rid of the worst of the TSA idiots by retesting them?

Ideally, I'd like them all to go away . . . failing that, I'd take anything I can get.

Now the bad news, due to what is known as a non-disclosure agreement (yes, even the TSA has one) anybody who took the exam is not able to give you any real information about the exam.

Was it hard? No and it's the kind of test where you either know it or you don't. Nothing to study nothing to prepare for you just go in and give it your best shot.

You mean a 3 hr test to become a complete idiot I thought all you had to know how to do was spell your name but seeing some of the tsa people I can see where that could be a challenge.

Well, it isn't like it is my big career choice, and no offense taken by anyone. It is simply that I have rent to pay, bills to pay, and hopefully soon a car note to pay. So, I kinda need the $$$$.

I agree. Please go elsewhere if you have nothing constructive to add to the question. There are lots of other threads where you can go after the TSA, and as ANCFLyer and others noted, they are quite vociferous in those threads.

And perhaps since you are a member of this forum and know what the public thinks of TSA, take your leadership abilities and use the opportunities provided to excel above and beyond, and hopefully you will rise to the top! Best of luck, it is rather comforting to know that one of us will be out there doing his job correctly.

In addition, you will have opportunities to move elsewhere in the Federal Govn't as you will already be "inside", so getting into TSA would be a good career move.
